A peak never climbed, where the few previous attempts had already failed along its approach, and the geographical distance from any form of civilization, have made Cerro Riso Patron Sud gain the reputation of a mountain that is found “en el culo del mundo".
After paddling a hundred kilometers with sea kayak, having missed a tsunami for a few days and crossing impetuous streams, Silvan and I finally managed to get our hands and ice axes on the west face of this mountain and reach the summit, in a 24-hour lightning ascent... but the expedition ended only after five long days of return, again on board the kayaks and at the mercy of the Patagonian winds, to return to the starting point, the village of Puerto Eden.
